What this site is, how we choose what to recommend, and how to reach us.

What this site is

Solution Overview is an independent enterprise technology site: the software, contracts and platforms a business runs on, written for the people who choose and pay for them. Four sections — Security, Cloud, SaaS and IT Ops — and the buyer guides that compare what is in them.

Every entry lists its sources at the foot of the page, with a link to each one. What a page states is drawn from those sources, and nothing else is presented as fact.

How we choose

An entry is built from material you can check: the vendor's own specifications and pricing, their documentation and changelogs, dated so you can see how current it is. Where a figure could not be confirmed, the entry says so.

The cheapest option is rarely the best at everything, so every entry keeps its trade-off. The order of a table is the verdict — nothing commercial decides it.

A recommendation is a statement about a date. When one of our picks gets worse, we say so and update it.

How this is paid for

Reading is free and the site is funded by advertising. Advertisements are labelled Advertisement, they sit in their own blocks and never inside a story, and they are served by Google AdSense — the advertiser is chosen by Google's auction, not by us, and an ad appearing next to a story is not an endorsement of it or of the story's subject.

Advertisers get no say in what is written, no preview of a story and no right to have one changed. If an ad on a page looks like it was placed by us, tell us and the placement gets fixed.

Terms

What you read here is information and opinion, not advice for your particular situation. We report what the sources say and link to them; worth checking the vendor's own page before acting on anything here.
